Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-in-One Printer Review

The Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-in-One printer creates lab quality photos as well as the ability to scan documents and pictures, or copy up to 99 pages at a time. Designed to take the place of three different machines, the EasyShare 5300 also acts as a borderless photo printer without ever being connected to a computer, making it simple to print digital pictures right from home.

Highlights and Features

Like the other two EasyShare models from Kodak, the 5300 all-in-one features a two cartridge system that actually houses six different inks, but unlike the 5500 model, the EasyShare 5300 does not offer two-sided printing without the purchase of a duplexer as an add-on accessory.

This model does, however, feature a variety of printing options such as poster, mirror image, fill page, fit to page, and 100%, and users of the Kodak EasyShare 5300 report that the control panel is simple to use, allowing one to switch back and forth easily between the copying, scanning, and printing functions.

This all-in-one printer also features a bright three inch LCD color display that's swivel mounted allowing one to move it a full 90 degrees for the absolute best viewing angle.

While the photo paper tray will hold just 20 sheets at once and only allows for sheets sized 4 x 6 inches, the paper is easy to reload for printing more than 20 photos at a time. You're also able to print photos without the use of a computer, printing directly from either a memory card, a digital camera that's PictBridge enabled, or a storage device that connects to the USB port.

When it comes to scanning, the Kodak EasyShare 5300 allows users to choose from different file extensions that include the most popular JPEG or bitmap and also TIFF and PNG, but it does not have the capability of scanning files to PDF documents.

To use the EasyShare 5300 printer your computer will need to have either Windows XP or Vista, any edition for both, or Macintosh 10.4.8 or higher as its main operating system. It is also recommended that computers have anywhere from 1.2 to 3 gigahertz of memory, depending on the type of processor, and 200 megabytes of available hard drive memory.

The average price of the Kodak EasyShare 5300 printer is usually around the $199 mark.
